"Top" Search Engines: Why They're Probably Not Enough! It's hard to understand the mentality of some webmasters who claim that there are just "too many" search engines out there and that it's "too much" trouble to take the time to submit their sites to all of them. It's even more difficult to grasp the rationale of those site owners who feel they shouldn't have to pay $20 or $30 to smaller engines who charge per listing. If your site typically makes even a small, $10 profit per customer, how can you be so certain that a small search engine wont bring you AT LEAST 2 or 3 extra orders per year [if not MUCH more] to cover your "investment" AND yield some profit plus the possibility of repeat business & new customer referrals!?!? Surely, it's riskier to chance NOT spending the $20 or $30 to 'add your site' and miss out on those potential customers! Yes, the major search engines will always bring you MORE business; sometimes even for no cost at all. But no, that doesn't mean you should 'cut your winnings' there either! There are so many more reasons TO list your company's site with EVERY engine possible (yes, even those who charge a few bucks!) than there are to intentionally ignore a few out of stubbornness or pride. The most successful sites on the Internet are generally wise enough to submit their sites EVERYWHERE without question. If your product or service can't profit off of a paid search listing, it's probably not going to be successful at all! Few investments in business...or in life...pay off as well as a $20..$30...even $75 search engine submission fee -- regardless of the "size" of the engine. Yes, it's a "better deal" to get A LOT of traffic for NO money than it is to get only SOME traffic for $50....but traffic is still traffic and customers are still customers..Submitting your site to only the "obvious" search engines is HARDLY enough!
